The word may be strong, the concept may be far-reaching, but it is not far-fetched. It’s not about punishing or depriving, quite the opposite; it’s about giving oneself the organisational rather than the material means to fully experience an holiday in essence. For our guests, it’s just a matter of minimal planning to make sure peace of mind is achievable, knowing that information will work in cases of emergency; that “no news = good news”.
How and to what extent to disconnect?
It is up to guests to dose their magic potion. It just requires the assessment of whom, among relatives, colleagues and friends, would be able to determine an emergency and relay the information.
For our part, we propose to be the intermediaries, either to obtain the guests’ contact details or to relay specific messages. In order to facilitate the disconnection, we can provide on request, a local phone card or mobile phone. The disconnection of the Internet at the villa is also possible on request and some guest-houses do apply permanent disconnection or at certain times.
The initial proposal of our theme holidays is to discover different regions, changing accommodation during the stay and participating in a variable number of activities. In each case, several accommodations – if possible with different packages – are proposed, with possible adaptation to budgets. The activities proposed correspond to the main theme, with varying frequency and intensity.
In the specific case of a disconnected holiday, it may be convenient to choose only one region and limit the number of activities, but the idea is to discover new places and lesser activites leads to more temptations to glance at that little screen, or at best, to connect to your “real” daily life by thought.
For this theme, we opt for accommodations that allow a connection with nature, in quiet areas. The sequence and frequency of changing accommodation is to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
